I choose you

We hosted Shiru & Kevin at our home during our 1st meeting as we happened to know Shiru’s sister quite well. We loved them instantly and our little kids loved them too. They are very sweet, kind and full of life. They also had such an amazing chemistry going on between them that was kinda hard to hide . To crown it all, they both love Jesus so much. And it’s always great seeing two people so in love with each other and also with God. I believe in my heart of hearts that it’s very hard for two people to selflessly love & serve each other, without God being at the centre of it. It is because we love God, that makes it natural to love & serve another person, as much as these two love each other. Kevin gave me the low down of how they came to meet, hence the cheeky title πŸ™Š

How We Met πŸ‘« (Kevin’s Version)

A few years ago, we happened to be invited to the same party (mind you we didn’t even know each other). I remember the day like it was yesterday! Definitely goes down as one of the best days of my life, because I got to meet the most beautiful woman in the world. I mean, have you seen her? πŸ˜‰…back to how we met… We happened to drive into the venue at the same time, me having trailed her for a few kilometres without  my knowledge. She thought I was stalking her. After brief introductions, I was eager to know Shiru more. Later that evening, it was getting chilly outside and I offered her my jacket. I refused to have my coat back in hope of a date with this gorgeous lady that I had just met. So, after much persuasion, I got her number and a few months later, I finally asked her to be my girlfriend. The joy is untold! My love for Shiru isn’t just vast, it’s deep!! I love every little aspect about her… Her beauty, character, personality, intelligence, ambition, selflessness…its unmatched. After great conviction, prayers & friendship, I decided this is the girl I wanted to spend my life with… my best friend…I asked her and she said YES! Second best decision I have made in my life, the best being giving my life to Christ. I surrender to Christ so that I can love Shiru, like Christ loved the church. Thanking God for where we’ve reached so far, and for the great plans He has in store for us, to give us hope and a future.

With Love & Care,

Kevin

Craft Gift : Letter In A Bottle

Shiru’s simple but chic details for the day

That engagement ring was so glamorous it deserved it’s own spotlight on the blog

Details maketh the man. And telling by Kevin’s details, he was a simple, stylish gentleman. Definitely, my type ‘a’ groom

Our dashing groom of the day, Kevin. His Happy Socks were telling of this mood today, Happy πŸ™‚

The gentlemen unite in prayer as they dedicate Kevin to God

Dapper’s the word brothers

Shiru, our gorgeous bride of the day, looking all bright and beautiful on this her wedding day

Loved their African themed Robes. I always adore Brides who take the creative freedom to make their weddings different. Shiro & Kevin are a living example of that

This wedding was a bunch of beautiful emotions. So many wonderful moments to capture, love is definitely a beautiful thing. Here Shiro’s was reading the message inside a bottle from her soon to be hubby

Shiru leaving her childhood bedroom one last time as a single woman. And can we just take a minute and drool over this gown, definitely an Ogake Mosomi signature piece

Shiru’s mom gets to pray and give thanks over her daughter. Quite an emotional moment this was, as she was leaving her family to start her own with Kevin

Kevin’s mum absolutely excited to receive such a gorgeous girl on behalf of her son.

Shiru’s grandma was also here and it was such a wonderful moment to speak a blessing over her grand daughter

The women were here, armed with their khangas as they sang for our bride. Shiru seen here walking arm in arm with both her mums

Walking up the steps of Ridgeways Baptist with the folks to the awaiting arms of Kevin

Another very unique & symbolic thing happened here. Kevin met Shiro’s folks in the middle of the altar and they both embraced and left their daughter standing there πŸ™‚

And then they walked Kevin down the remaining part of the aisle as a symbol that now they had become one. Shiro’s parents had now become his parents. How beautiful this was

Kevin then walked back to get Shiru who was standing there all this time waiting for him.

This was the 1st time I had seen this happen. The adventists also have a sort of similar tradition, but this one was unique!

Ah this was so beautiful, waterworks everywhere!!!

Only Shiru & Kevin knew the far that God had brought them, and this beautiful tears were tears of joy & thanksgiving that this day had finally come

There were many such beautiful, private moments all through the day, where they looked at each other and seemed to be communicating volumes without even uttering a word

The Bird of Paradise flower happened to be Gathoni’s favourite flower some time back. It was great seeing that my wife & Shiro shared the same love for this beautiful flower

It was not all tears & sniffles during the ceremony, we also had such wonderful moments of unparalleled joy

A rare behind-the-scenes look at the officiator’s desk

Many more happy and beautiful moments during the handing over at the altar

Look who was excited at being unveiled! Kevin’s face was equally, if not more, excited

Shiru was a beautiful happy bride all through the day. Her energy was infectious and brightened up the mood of everyone

Finally, Kevin put a ring on ‘it’, it takes a bold and courageous man to do this. Kudos my brother!

“Yeah girls he did it!, am officially off the market”

When that ring was trying to pull a fast one, Shiru made sure that it had to fit

An interesting perspective to their dedication to God. I loved the way they held on to each other. If a husband & wife can learn this secret, then everything that they set out to do together will succeed.

β€œI also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you.” – Matt 18:19

And with that, they shared their 1st kiss as husband & wife

Cheiii, these two, I just love the way they love one another

And now presenting you the latest & newest couple in town!

After the ceremony, we headed over to Migaa Golf Estate where we were to have the photo session and reception. We discovered this amazing & ancient Mugumo (Strangler Fig) tree that formed the perfect backdrop for our pictures

Shiro and her maids were stunning. The black dresses and fascinators were such a wonderful mix. Again, dear future bride, its ok to be different, find whatever tickles your fancy and do it unapologetically

Yaaas Queens πŸ‘Έ πŸ‘Έ πŸ‘Έ πŸ‘Έ

The Squad!!!!

What’s a wedding without the flying veil shot. Will post the Behind the Scenes of this on my Instagram stories. While we at it. Please follow here me on the IG streets πŸ˜‰

The bride was so beautiful that we had to clear out the weeds for her (Queen πŸ‘Έ )

I had hardly passed them, when I found the one my soul loves. I held him and would not let him go, until I had brought him to my mother’s house, to the room of the one who conceived me. (Songs of Solomon 3:4)

The breath-taking view that greeted us as we made our way to the reception

Luxe and Allure went hard when it came to the decor. They nailed the black & gold theme perfectly

Despite the well manicured nails & meticulously tonged hair, Shiro could still wing it as the traditional kikuyu bride

The aunties even gifted them a His & Hers towel and told them showering together is not only romantic but saves on the water & power bills too πŸ™‚

Little Cake Girl came through as always. Serving us CakeGoals and messing with our waistlines πŸ™‚

Huge cake this was, maybe we should switch the knife for a sword, with the couple taking fencing lessons to prepare for the cake cutting session (I digress)

This is meme material for all our meme lords out there. #SipsTea is too ghettaux, #SipsWine is more like it!

Find someone to laugh with, even when no one else finds the joke funny #CouplesWhoLaughTogetherLastTogether

I would love to leave you with some beautiful pictures of these two soulmates…

God is the ultimate and perfect match maker, who is like Him, who can compare to Him. To Him alone be glory, honour & praise

Should have named this post ‘Love on the Golf Course’ well, too late for that now huh?

Thank you Shiro & Kevin, for sharing with us your love, and letting your light shine, so that the world may see it and give glory to out father who is in Heaven

Allow me friends to leave you with the words of Isaiah 34:16 that I love very much, especially to those still waiting on God

“Search and read the scroll of the LORD: Not one of these will go missing, not one will lack her mate, because He has ordered it by His mouth, and He will gather them by His Spirit.”

Glory Be to God
